Obituary

Lawrence Elmer “Larry” Johnson, 80, of Marquette, died Monday, May 17, 2021at UP Health System-Marquette.

 

He was born August 25, 1940, in Marquette, a son of the late Lawrence C. and Astrid (Peterson) Johnson.  He was a 1958 graduate of John D. Pearce High School and was a lifelong area resident.

 

Larry worked for 45 years at the former Bunny Bread Bakery in Marquette.  He started right out of high school in 1958 and retired as a semi-truck driver for the company in 2001.

 

He enjoyed the outdoors hunting partridge and deer, stream fishing, snowmobiling in his youth, owning and working on classic cars, spending time at camp, traveling and attending car shows.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family which meant a lot to him.

 

Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet Johnson of Marquette; 2 daughters, Cynthia Morsbach of Marquette and Lauren (Randy) Swan of Newnan, GA; 4 sons, Dale (Dorothy) Johnson of Virginia, Paul Johnson of Spanaway, WA, Don Johnson of Felch, MI and George (Danielle) Johnson of Rudyard, MI; 9 grandchildren, Alexandria & Ethan Swan, Kurt (Cody) Morsbach, Jr, Nicole (Jon) LaCasse, Dale (Jen) Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Joey (Jessica) Johnson, Scott (Paige) Johnson and Austin Johnson; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Lowell (Sonia) Johnson of Marquette; and several nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorraine Koski.

 

Honoring Larry’s request, there will be no services.
