JAY BIERLEIN Obituary

Jay Leonard Bierlein, 64, passed away at his home in Ishpeming on March 25th, 2022. Jay was born on April 16th, 1957 to Leonard and Audrey (Malzahn) Bierlein, who have preceded him in death. Jay is survived by his son, Tobin James (TJ) and his only grandson, Tobin James Jr. along with TJ’s significant other, Faith Plankey. Also, Jay’s stepmother, Ramona Bierlein; sisters, Jan Sanregret, Jill Rankinen and husband, Michael; stepsisters, Bonnie Matterand, Elaine Zentheofer and husband, Peter and Barbara Johnson and husband, Casey; also numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; and his very special, longtime friend, Sandra Reynolds. Jay spent much of his early years in Mercer, Wisconsin. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, trapping, fishing, and being a guide. He could also tell many stories if you had the time to listen. This is where his logging career started. Jay lived in Clatskanie, Oregon for about six years where he cut large timber about 30 miles from the Pacific Ocean. In the 90’s he moved to Ishpeming where he logged with horses and worked for Minerick Logging. He worked for Holli Forest Products for the 20 years following. There will be a Celebration of Life for Jay this summer. Cards and expressions of sympathy may be sent to 658 Palms Ave, Ishpeming, MI 49849.
