HARRY JOHNSON, Jr.
August 8, 1927 ~ January 2, 2021 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Harry Johnson, Jr., former Republic resident, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Prestige Place Assisted Living in Clare, Michigan, where he has been a resident for the past 3 years.
Harry was born on August 8, 1927, to Harry G. and Linda (Hangas) Johnson and was raised in Republic where he graduated from Republic High School Class of 1945. Upon graduation, Harry entered the US Navy during WWII and was a part of the 53rd Naval Construction Battalion.
Harry married Ruth Windahl on July 2, 1949 and together they raised three daughters.
Harry is survived by Ruth, his wife of 71 years; daughters, Colleen (Larry) Webb of East China, MI, Luann (Stephen) Dagenais of Marquette and Sherry (Terry) Polkki of Ishpeming; grandchildren, Nicole (Bryon) Osterland of Brussels, Belgium, Joseph (Jill Saucier) Webb of Chicago, Stefanie (Gary) Little of Marquette, Jessica (Jordon) Riffle of Beaverton, MI, Michael (Jennifer) Polkki of National Mine and Thomas (Kristin Hangartner) Polkki of Kaukauna, WI; great-grandchildren, Nash, Beau, Dane and Bryn Little, Cameron Riffle, Hailey, John & Jordy Polkki. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Anna Lou Brewer of Grand Ridge, FL along with nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin.
Harry’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the caregivers at Prestige Place for the care and support that they have given to Harry.
As per Harry’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no service. Interment will be made in the Republic Cemetery with a private family gathering in the spring.

The family has entrusted Canale & Pennock Funeral Service in Ishpeming with the arrangements.
