Donald Lee Palomaki, 68, of Ishpeming, died peacefully Wednesday evening, October 21, 2020, at his home, with family by his side and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice.
He was born February 2, 1952, in Ishpeming, a son of Sulo and Irja (Hanninen) Palomaki. He was a 1970 graduate of Ishpeming High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in technical drafting & tool design from Ferris State University in 1972. He was a lifelong area resident.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Donald married Debra Lindholm in Ishpeming on August 8, 1981.
He worked in maintenance at CCI for many years before retiring in 2015.
Donald was a member of NorthIron Church, the Amvets Post 122 and served as Commander. He also enjoyed pool league and dart ball.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Palomaki of Ishpeming; sons, Jacob of Ishpeming, Seth of St. Paul, MN and Garrett of Ishpeming; brothers, William Palomaki and Jon (Barbara) Palomaki, both of Ishpeming; sister & brother-in-laws, Lois Ogea of Kennesaw, GA, Lorraine (Tom) Kevern of Gwinn, Robert (Jean) Lindholm of Ishpeming, James (Amanda) Lindholm of Humboldt and Ruth (Larry) Warner of Michigamme; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rita Palomaki; sister-in-law, Carol Palomaki; and brother-in-law, Paul Lindholm.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 1pm at NorthIron Church with Pastor Mark Broberg officiating. Interment will be held in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
