Arlene Yvonne Ylinen, 82, of Ishpeming, died peacefully Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Trillium House in Marquette while under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice.
She was born June 20, 1936 in Marquette, a daughter of the late Wilho and Ansa (Ranta) Leppanen. She was a 1954 graduate of Eben High School and was a lifelong area resident.
On October 2, 1954 she married Leslie Ylinen in Marquette and he preceded her in death in October 1989.
Arlene worked for many years at the Unity Co-Op in Eben and later at Avery’s Gifts in Au Train and AMCAB. She was a member of the Red Hats and TOPS and participated in bowling leagues through the years.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam (Duane) Bocklund of Marquette; granddaughter, Michelle (John) Swanson of Little Lake; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Maddie and Mason; sisters, Bonnie (Fred) Frohner of Saline, MI and Carole (Jim) Sipila of Gladstone; and significant other, George LaBeau of Ishpeming. She was also preceded in death by a son, Bryan; daughter, Julie; and brothers, Gary and Dennis.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham and will be announced.
