Virginia K. DeRocha, 81, of Champion, died peacefully, Monday afternoon, October 28, 2019 at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.
She was born July 16, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Martin and Bonnie (Lykins) Perry, Jr. and raised in Imperial Heights and was a 1957 graduate of Champion High School.
Virginia married James DeRocha on September 24, 1959 at the Sacred Heart Church in Champion.
She was a very talented baker, earning many ribbons at the Harvest Festival in Marquette. She loved spending time with family & friends and playing BINGO.
Virginia is survived by a son, Dennis (Lisa) DeRocha; sisters, Jane (Kent) Erickson and Peggy (Gary) Anderson; brothers, Dallas and Roy Choat; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; son, Daniel P. DeRocha; sisters, Nel Griffith and Helen Touminen; and a brother, Richard Choat.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Peggy Anderson for all her help & to Eastwood Nursing Center for the wonderful care they gave Virginia while she was there.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 pm in the church with Rev. Dan Moll officiating. Interment will take place in the Champion Cemetery.
Kevin Hamel, Chris Pelkola, Danny DeRocha II, Daniel DeRocha, Marvin Joki and Gary Anderson will serve as pallbearers.
