CHARLES RUESING Obituary

Charles E. “Sonny” Ruesing, Jr., 84, of Negaunee, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans. 

 

He was born May 14, 1933 in Negaunee, a son of the late Charles E. and Louise I. (Martinson) Ruesing, Sr. and was a 1951 graduate of Negaunee High School.

 

Sonny served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

 

His first job was as a deck hand on the iron ore boats, sailing the Great Lakes.  He then went to work in tool & dye for Conway Machine Inc. in Arkansas for 22 years and served as President of the company.

 

Sonny was a member of the Lions Club, SME and First Baptist Church in Gwinn.  He enjoyed playing the accordion, fishing, hunting, wood working and reading.

 

He is survived by four children, Michael (Patricia) Ruesing of Rockford, IL, David (Jeanie) Ruesing of 29 Palms, CA, Denise (Mark) Frerich of Maumelle, AR and Daniel (Kathy) Ruesing of Conway, AR; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Susan (Wayne) Bessalo of Marquette and Carol Lippincott of Port Huron, MI; special friend, Carolyn Harmon of Gwinn; several nieces & nephews; and numerous cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Debra and brother, Robert.

 

A celebration of Sonny’s life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 fro 1 to 3 pm at the Lost Creek Community Center.  Refreshments will be served.
