Audrey Ann Wuorenmaa, 87, of Ishpeming, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 23, 2016, at UP Health System Bell.

She was born April 11, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late James and Esther (Hill) Morrall.  The family moved to Champion during the great depression for work and later returned to Detroit.  Years later, she returned to the UP to settle in Ishpeming.

On April 2, 1949 she married Paul L. Wuorenmaa in Detroit and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2016.  They would have celebrated 67 loving years of marriage.

In her youth, Audrey worked as a switch board operator before taking on the job of full time homemaker.  She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Audrey, her friend, Aile Maki and sister, Arlene Young were known in the area as the 3A’s and would often be seen being chauffeured around town by her husband, Paul.  Her interests included berry picking and fishing with Paul.

Audrey will be remembered by her family as a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by three children, Diane (Gary) Jepson of Newark, DE, Beth (Neil) Anderson of Green Bay, WI and Bruce Wuorenmaa of Castro Valley, CA; grandchildren, Travis Jepson of Bear, DE, Kyle Jepson of Lebanon, IL, Reese Jepson of Philadelphia, PA, Neil (Mei) Anderson of St. Louis, MO, Brandon (Carmen) Anderson of Green Bay, WI, Zack Anderson of Green Bay, WI and Jeffrey Wuorenmaa of Castro Valley, CA; great-grandchildren, Vera and Grace Anderson of Green Bay, WI; special nephews, Jeff (Ellen) Young of Ishpeming and Michael (Char) Young of Virginia Beach, VA and their families; and special friend, Emily Torma of Ishpeming.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Janice Kay, sister, Arlene and brother, Clyde.

Audrey’s children would like to express how blessed they are to have Mom’s special niece, Cheryl (Tom) Fleury of Ishpeming in their family.  Thank you for always being there for Mom.  She loved you both more than you will ever know.

Audrey’s family would also like to thank her “new family at Marquette County Medical Care Facility” and especially the staff members, Tami, Nicky and Jen along with the staff at UP Health System Bell and nurse Diane Denofre for the wonderful care they provided.

A Celebration of the Live’s of Audrey and Paul will be held later in July and will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Marquette County Medical Care Facility’s Activity Fund, 200 Saginaw Street, Ishpeming, MI 49849.
